Stargazing For Everyone presents teacher workshops and classroom presentations using the following modules: (1) Exploring the Moon and Stars; (2) Exploring Time; (3) Exploring the Earth in Motion; and (4) Exploring Light and Color. Call Stargazing For Everyone - (623) 979 - 1393 to arrange a camp for your school or group. Telescope and Binocular Stargazing Classes These are "Hands and Eyes" on classes under the stars where you use telescopes and binoculars to observe the evening sky. Telescopes and binoculars will be available for your use or bring your own. Binocular and telescope basics are explained, and the limitations of size and types are discussed. Learn to identify the constellations and listen to sky folklore; learn how to use planispheres and star charts to find your way to interesting objects to observe; learn how to set-up and use a telescope. Observe the moon, planets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies. See detailed views of craters on the moon, the cloud bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, nebulae, and galaxies millions of light-years away. Also learn simple techniques for photographing the night sky and the moon. Photographic equipment will be available for your use or bring your own. 2007 Summer Camp Programs 2007 dates are TDB Cosmic Discoveries Camp Time: 9:00 AM to 12 Noon Grades: 4 - 8 Class limit: 30 students This is an exciting hands-on science enrichment camp for anyone interested in Astronomy and Space Exploration. Students will learn about our night sky and using star charts to find deep space objects such as star clusters, nebula, black holes, supernovas, and the constellations; the tools astronomers use to explore our solar system and the universe; the history of astronomical discovery and current NASA/JPL missions. Students will perform astronomical experiments, build astronomical devices, observe and photograph our home star, the Sun, using professional solar telescopes. Registration is ongoing. The Joy Community School is located at 21000 North 75th Ave in Glendale. 2007 Special Interest Classes Telescope Basics Class New class dates are TBD. This is a two night introduction to photographing the night sky. Attendees will learn both digital and film techniques to photograph the night sky, including effects of film speed, exposure times, camera mounting systems, and special techniques to capture great images of the constellations, the Moon, planets, and deep space objects. A class package including exposure time tables, field of view tables and more will be given to each attendee. Attendees should bring their camera and film as they will be photographing the night sky during the class. The Glendale Adult Center is located at 5970 West Brown Street, in Glendale, just west of the Main Glendale Public Library. Registration is ongoing.
